You know what I’d love to have right now? Warm sweet martabak filled with chocolate sprinkles, cheese, peanuts, and a whole lotta butter – cooked right in front of me by one of the abang-abang (stall seller). If you’re not an Indonesian, you probably don’t know what I’m talking about. So let me share the goodness of sweet martabak…

Sweet martabak, makes me drool...

Create your own toppings, or try my favourite!
The sweet martabak is basically an Indonesian interpretation of the famous Indian dish called murthabak. Unlike the murthabak which has vegetables filling and is savoury, sweet martabak is – surprise, surprise – sweet! And the filling ranges too, as there are plenty of choices for you. My preference is choc, cheese, and nuts. Although, I do like the cheese only servings too.

Sweet martabak: Indonesia's answer to savoury Indian murthabak!
Trust me, these things are yummy. So if you happen to be in Indonesia either for travel or business or whatever reason, don’t forget to try a piece of sweet martabak! You’ll sure want more.
